
The first stage of the Italian Grand Events Championship has come to an end in Sanremo. The race was attended by 67 crews on classic cars and 7 on modern ones. Only 45 and 4 of them saw the checkered flag on the shores of the Ligurian Sea, respectively.
With an advantage of more than 80 points, the victory in the main standings was obtained by the crew No. 3 of Mario Passanante / Dario Moretti in a 1937 Fiat 508C. Alessandro Gamberini / Guido Ceccardi of CLASSIC TEAM finished second with 492.60 points. The last top-3 spot was occupied by Andrea Giacoppo / Luca Fichera on a 1972 Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF.
After the finish, Mario Passanante shared his impressions with AutoClassicNews,
«I am very happy to have won this 1st race of the CIGE, a very intense and also very technical race that involved the maximum from crews and cars».
When asked if he will take part in other stages of the Grand Events of the Italian Championship, Mario replied, «Yes, of course. So far, we will most likely be at the Dolomites Gold Cup of the, then we’ll see».
As a reminder, Italy hosts a championship consisting of grand events — the Milan — Sanremo Cup (Coppa Milano — Sanremo), the Dolomites Gold Cup (Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti), the Nuvolari Grand Prix (Gran Premio Nuvolari) and Rally Targa Florio Classica, as well as the Regularity Rally Championship which includes twelve stages.
In the standings among modern cars, top-ranked was the crew of Mauro Trifero / Alessandro Capella in a Ferrari 599 HGTE 3M produced in 2008.
Annalisa Bellante / Alessandra Ferraris in a 1964 Porsche 356 SC Coup was the best among the female crews.
