Multiple winner of the 1000 Millas Sport and three-time Mille Miglia winner Juan Tonconogy has told about his returning to racing, promoting retro cars among young people and goals for the 2025 season in an interview with AutoClassicNews

You have returned to Mille Miglia after a few years. What was the most difficult thing for you?

-Getting in touch again with the “craziness” of the race and the feeling with the car.

-This year you have spent a full season in retro racing. What motivated you to return?

-I always wanted to come back but logistics with a baby wasn’t easy. Also wanted to push once again if I can be at a high level again.

-Are you satisfied with your results?

-I wasn’t happy about Mille Miglia result but I took it as a learning process. In Nuvolari in September I was able to see the light and be confident again let.

-What would you like to fix?

-Be mentally focused and relaxed at the same time!

-Will you plan to race next year? If so, in which cases

-Mille Miglia for sure. Probably Franciacorta Historic, Coppa Milano-Sanremo and Nuvolari.

-What has been changed there in racing during your absence?

-Crews have continued to get better!

-You’ve came to most of the races with your son. Did he like it?

-He loves it. Wants to go to Italy all the time and is obsessed with engines and cars.

-In your opinion, is it necessary to popularize racing among children so that this sport can continue to exist in the future?

-Totally. It is very good they enjoy it from the start then they can decide if they like it or not. But at least it is great to give them the chance of living it. Also for the parents is fantastic to also share the moment.
