The rising sun over Vigo Bay, which became famous after the battle in 1702 between the Anglo-Dutch troops and the Franco-Spanish squadron during the War of the Spanish Succession after the death of Charles II, turned the morning of the fifth day into an idealistic picture. However, the crews were not up to it. They were preparing for the longest day of the rally in ten hours, the participants had to overcome more than 400 km and pass 8 zones of regularity.

By lunchtime, having overcome four of the eight zones of regularity, the crews headed north across a diverse landscape skirting the coast. Yes, this area couldn`t boast of a beautiful landscape, but this did not upset the participants of the «Classic Marathon» at all, they had other concerns. After four zones of regularity, some participants lost too much time to think about anything other than catching up.

Perhaps only Mark and Sue Godfrey were happy, who managed to reduce the gap from the leaders to 19 s. and Anderson/Rose, who returned to the intermediate three, with an 11 s .advantage over Paul Bloxidge and Ian Canavan.

The group chaser, which kept a ghostly chance to compete for a place in the top three, Jayne Wignall/Kevin Savage and Benno and Nina Britschgi scored more than 2 minutes of penalty. Of course, everything can still change, but the facts speak for themselves the intermediate three are increasing their advantage.

At the same time, the fight for victory continues between Paul Crosby/Andy Pullan and Mark and Sue Godfrey. Paul and Andy broke away from their rivals by 6 seconds, but tomorrow everything may change.
