Participants in any sport focus on the best result of the season or a historical record. But what if they are also trying to outdo themselves? Only few people could talk about this. Fabio Salvinelli is one of them. He has told about emotions, training and the most intense race of recent years in an interview with AutoClassicNews.

-Congratulations on your fourth victory in the “Mille Miglia.” Has the feeling of winning changed over the years?

-Thank you. Clearly, each year brings a different emotion. In any case, winning the Mille Miglia evokes unique and indescribable feelings.

-A large number of races require psychological and physical preparation. How have you prepared for the Mille Miglia this year?

-Physically, I prepare with long rides on a racing bike, alternating with walks to avoid fatigue during the many hours of driving.

-You repeated your success by winning the “Mille Miglia” for the fourth consecutive time. Which of the recent races was the most intense or challenging from a psychological and physical standpoint?

-I remember the 2021 Mille Miglia for the close score with the second place finisher. The Mille Miglia, with this format (5 days of racing), is always very physically demanding.

-You are the second person in history to achieve such a result. What do historical records mean to you as an athlete? And is the recognition of your achievements by competitors important to you?

-It’s a record that doesn’t change my life. But it puts my name at the top of this discipline.True friends always congratulate me. And I appreciate it very much.

-What motivates you to improve your results every year, competing with the same rivals year after year?

-We are always striving for the best performance for the absolute best result.

-In some videos, you can be seen with a tattoo in the shape of the “Mille Miglia” symbol. How did the idea to get it come about, and why after the third victory?

-Actually, I got it after the third victory thinking I had equaled a record. Instead, we managed to set another one. The tattoo brought good luck!
