Bonhams auction House held auctions as part of the Goodwood Revival. 345 lots were presented at the auction, 118 of which were cars. 73% of the cars presented were produced in the UK: Aston Martin – 17, Jaguar – 15, Rolls-Royce – 8, Bentley – 7. In total, 44 car brands were presented at the auction.
The most expensive lot at the end of the auction was the first car of Bruce McLaren’s team — Cooper-Zerex-Oldsmobile 3.9 (1964). The car that survived seven transformations and two periods of long-term storage was sold for ? 911, 000.
On the second and third lines are two Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, dedicated to the victory of Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson at the Mille Miglia in 1955. One of 150 roadsters 722 S (2009), made in metallic green, was sold for 687 thousand pounds. Coupe 722 (2007) was sold for ? 631,000.
In fourth place at the end of the auction was a Porsche 904 GTS coupe (1964). A car from the Marcel Petitjean collection, ready to participate in historic races around the world, went to a new owner for ? 614,200.
The two-seat «Strasbourg» Sunbeam Grand Prix Racing (1922) car of the most successful British brand in the pre-war period, designed by Ernest Henry, was sold for ? 597,400.
