Mille Miglia is one of the most famous retro car races in the world. It will start on June,11. More than 400 crews, including 2018th race winners Juan Tonconogy/ Barbara Ruffini, will be going to take part. Juan Tonconogy had told to AutoClassicNews about return to the race and changes in his life.
-Your life has changed a lot over the last few years. What kind of impact has a child had on your lifestyle, racing and rivalry at the track?
-It is a complete change in life. Lifestyle, work, pleasure etc.The last years were focused mainly on our child and we starting to race again on the the last months.It is not easy when driver and con driver are the parents.
-After 4 years, you are returning to Mille Miglia with a car that is able to fight for a win. Why return now?
-Why return now ? Because we wanted to be back and with a possibility of having the coefficient. Last race we participated we did the best times but due to coefficient we ended 3rd.
Now we are not in the same training as before but we really want to enjoy being back again in this historic race.It is something that we really love participating. It is MUCH harder with our child coming to Italy, the logistics, having family to take care of him while here etc. So it is an adventure.
-You have a rather long break, is there any difference in how you are getting ready now and how you did it before?
-We will see. The main goal is to try to get the mind set for the race and get use to a car we have never drove before.
-The race distance has been prolonged for a day drive. What do you think of this change?
-Personal opinion: liked it like before but I haven’t been in the race with this new change so my opinion is just from the outside without having done it before.
