On May 21-29 RM Sotheby’s held its second-ever online auction «Driving into Summer». It combined 193 automobiles and 24 memorabilia which altogether reached the total sum of $16,4 million (about 64% of lots went down to the auction block – editor’s note). More than 500 users from 35 countries took part in the bids with around 24% of those who had their debut.

The headliner of the event was a 2003 Ferrari Enzo. A coupe version, equipped with racing seats having three-dimensional red insertions, cost the new owner as much as $2,640,000. With a slight handicap another Italian beauty, a 1985 Ferrari 288 GTO, ranked second after being sold for $2,310,000.

Besides Ferrari Enzo and 288 GTO some more models of the manufacturer showed good results. Thus, a 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Coupe was sold for $671,000, a 2020 Ferrari 488 Pista Spider was evaluated as high as $605,000, a 2019 Ferrari 812 Superfast added $335,000 to the totals while a 2005 Ferrari Superamerica stopped the bids at $255,000.

It should be highlighted that the bidders also highly assessed a 2017 Ford GT ($836,000), a 2020 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ ($647,500), a 2005 Ford Heritage ($385,000), a 1971 Mercedes-Benz SE 3.5 Cabriolet and, finally, a 1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Series 1 Roadster ($214,500).

Summing up the results of the auction, Global Head of Auctions RM Sotheby’s Gord Duff noted that the sells of Ferrari Enzo and 288 GTO marked an important epoch in the online platform development at RM Sotheby’s and the security displayed by the clients who are not afraid of taking part in the bids.
