Yesterday, June 30, one of the organizers of the multi-day rally for classic cars, Rally the Globe, announced that the list of participants for the upcoming rally in Scotland has been revealed. In total, 24 crews composed of representatives from 9 countries, such as Great Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, USA, Netherlands and Czech Republic, plan to go to the start of the Highland Thistle rally. At this stage, the name of the co-pilot of the Czech Otakar Chladek is still being clarified, the remaining duos are fully formed.

It should said that eligible are cars manufactured later than December 31, 1976. Vehicles manufactured until December 31, 1945, included, will be allocated to a separate class. The latter in the start list are presented by 8 entries, one of which is a 1925 Bentley Super Sports driven by last year’s Peking to Paris rally winner, Graham Goodwin from the UK. His co-pilot, as in the competition mentioned above, will be Marina Goodwin.

The Highland Thistle route will cover 1,800 kilometers of Scottish roads. The start will be given in St. Andrews, where the crews will eventually return after 4 days, driving through the north of the country along the Isle of Skye, the largest island of the Inner Hebrides group, the picturesque valleys in the northwest and visiting Inverness and Cairngorms National Park, the largest one in the United Kingdom. The organizers note that they will try to use rural roads to a minimum and at the same time they warn that pilots driving low-suspension vehicles should pay special attention to the driving process on such a surface. And this is true for a fairly large percentage of participating crews.

The rally program will include a total of about 10 regularity zones and 10 special tests, which will be organized at large car parks, country roads, local airfields and other similar sites.

The rally is scheduled for October 5-9, but Rally the Globe does not exclude the possibility of canceling the event. This will happen if severe restrictive measures are not removed until mid-July. Therefore, the final fate of the rally will be known in the next 2 weeks.
