On May 2, Zola-Predosa will host the fifth stage of the Italian Regularity Rally Championship. More than one hundred crews (121) will go to the start of the race and will be grouped in accordance with the year of car production — from 1904 to 1990.

It is worth noting that six of the aforementioned crews are constantly participating in the Italian Championship: season leaders Alberto Scapolo / Giuseppe Scapolo (115 points), Gianmario Fontanella / Alessandro Malta (88 points), Andrea Belometti / Caterina Vagliani (69 points), Guido Barcella / Ombretta Ghidotti (52 points), Fabio Salvinelli / Marco Salvinelli (48 points) and Massimo Dalleole / Alessandro Traversi (36 points).

The day before the start of the race Andrea Belometti, who is co-piloted by Caterina Vagliani, told AutoClassicNews about the preparations for the fifth stage and named the main rival in the fight for victory:

«The Bologna race is known to be very technical due to the numerous special stages (this year there will be 65 to 181 kilometers of distance, ed.) that we will find uphill and downhill that the organizers hide very well, so the fun will be guaranteed.

The main competitor in the fight for victory will be Andrea Vesco (three-time winner of the Mille Miglia, ed.) who is quite familiar to everyone. I hope to improve my results a little, because in 2021 I haven’t had any good races yet», added Andrea.

It should be noted that Andrea Vesco did not take part in the previous stages of the Italian Regular Championship in retro cars. And it will be extremely interesting to watch the performance of one of the top pilots in Italy, given that in less than a month Vesco will have to defend the title of the winner of the Red Arrow.
