The 26th Amelia Island Elegance Competition was held on the territory of the five-star Ritz-Carlton hotel from 20 to 23 May.

The grand prize of this year’s Concours of Elegance — «Best in Show» – went to a 1926 Hispano-Suiza H6B Convertible, provided by Jill and Charles Mitchell from Stuart, Florida. Between 1919 and 1933, 2,350 of these cars were produced, equipped with an aluminum inline-six engine with an overhead camshaft of 403 cm3.

«Best of Sport» award was won by a 1974 Shadow Dn4, owned by James Bartel of Key West, also Florida. This car won 4 out of 5 races in the last season of the Canada American Cup («Cam-Am»). After restoration, the car has been racing since 2016. Last year, in July, it was involved in an incident during the historic Road America race, and the passed Concours was its first public appearance since the restoration.

Bill Warner, Chairman and Founder of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance:

«The 1926 Hispano-Suiza H6B Cabriolet and 1974 Shadow DN4 both represent the excellence we strive for at The Amelia.

This year’s showfield might have been reduced to encourage social distancing, but the quality of the entries made selecting the winners as difficult as ever. Many thanks to our judging team, led by Paul Sable, for overcoming the almost insurmountable task of choosing the best of the best in each class»

As part of the event, the organizers announced the dates for the next year’s Elegance Competition. Fans of vintage cars will be expected at the five-star Ritz-Carlton Hotel and the Fr. Amelia from 3 to 7 March.
