The auction house RM Sotheby’s has summed up the results of the outgoing year. Total sales in 2021 reached $550 million, with $406.5 million received at public auctions and $150 million by private sales.
During the year, 25 auctions were held — 13 regular ones and 12 online-bssed, including the Open Roads series. Altogether, 3446 lots were put up for sale. The buyers in the outgoing year were representatives of 46 countries, 51% of whom placed their bids for the first time.
Top sales in 2021 were led by the 1962 Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato ($ 9,520,000). In second and third place are the 1962 Ferrari 268 SP from Fantuzzi ($ 7,705,000) and the 1966 Scaglietti Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione ($ 7,705,000). It is worth noting that all cars were sold at the Monterey auction held on August 12-14.
