From January 19 to January 23, Italy will host the «Winter Marathon» retro rally for the 34th time. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, 130 crews will take part in the event, including 5 previous winners: Edoardo Bellini / Roberto Tiberti (2021), Andrea Belometti / Massimo Bettinsoli (2020), Guido Barcella / Ombretta Ghidotti (2019), Alberto Riboldi (2018) and Alberto Aliverti (2017).
The rally will also feature a two-time World Rally Champion (1988–1989) and 1983 European Rally Champion Massimo Biasion in a 1974 Lancia Stratos and Sky Sport F1 commentator Davide Valsecchi in a 1968 Lancia Fulvia Coupe Rallye 1.3 HF.
The total length of the route this year will be 500 kilometers, including 65 regularities and 6 sectors for determining the best average time. In view of the possible avalanches, the organizers have also provided for alternative options for passing one or several sections off the main route.
