On April 25, 1941, the first batch of KIM 10-50 compact car was produced which, according to the plan of the Soviet authorities, was to become a “folk” one. It was assumed that by the end of 1942 it would be possessed by 10% of families and in another five years this figure was to reach 80%. As the basis for KIM 10-50 the creators took Ford Perfect, produced by the European branch of the company. The Soviet car received a modified design, increased body size and ground clearance and it had a 30-horsepower deformed 1.2-litre engine which accelerated the car to 90 km/h while 9 litres of fuel per 100 km. Until the end of 1941 it was planned to release 50,000 copies. However, these plans were thwarted by the war and the production of the first mass Soviet car shut down.
