On April 28, 1876, Nicola Romeo was born, an Italian entrepreneur and a talented engineer, the founder of Alfa Romeo. He graduated from two technical educational institutions in Naples and Li?ge (Belgium) and got degrees in Engineering and Electrical Engineering. In 1911 Nicola Romeo founded his own enterprise to produce machinery and equipment for the mining industry. In 1915 he acquired the controlling stake of Milan automobile company A.L.F.A., Three years later, Romeo became its only owner and the cars produced were called “Alfa Romeo”. In 1927 the economic downturn undermined the financial position of the company and nearly led to its liquidation. In 1928 Nicola Romeo left the chair of the head of the company and in 1933 it was nationalized.
