At the beginning of each month we publish a digest of events, but in June we decided to divide it into two parts. And today we will focus on More events from the second half of June.
On June 12, Russia Day, Tula will host the second stage of the RAF Retro Rally Cup — «Autostrada-Tula». In honor of the 80th anniversary of the heroic defense of the city in 1941, the organizers decided to commemorate the feat of the residents who defended their hometown during the Great Patriotic War by holding the retro-rally. Eligible here are cars manufactured before 31.12.1990 inclusive and corresponding to the RAF Cup Regulations. The maximum number of duos allowed to start is 50.
At the same period (June 12-13) on the island of Sardinia we will be witnessing the seventh stage of the Italian Regularity Rally Championship with the poetic name “Baia delle Ninfe”, which means “Bay of Nymphs”. Unlike the previous stages, the rally starts in the afternoon (15:00 local time), which means that the participants will have to make even more efforts not to get lost on the paradise island at dusk. On the second day, at 09:00 local time, the duos will travel to the northwestern part of Alghero Mountain, also called the «Coral Riviera» because of the expensive red coral in the water.
In the second half of the month, we will have 5 auctions at once, organized by RM Sotheby’s, Bonhams and Classic Car Auctions. The leader in the number of events will be the first of the named auction houses, which will host three events. One of them is amazing, in the most literal sense. On June 15, in one of the most famous palaces in Milan — Palazzo Serbelloni — RM Sotheby’s will hold a one-day auction, where 19 cars will be exhibited, the total value of which is about 14 million euros.
The main event of the month, as well as, perhaps, of the entire retro-season in Europe, is «the most beautiful road race in the world» — «Mille Miglia». Three days of intense battle for victory between three-time and current winner Andrea Vesco and 2019 winner Giovanni Mocheri in Alfa Romeo vehicles. To say that it will be exciting is to say nothing. After all, professionals in their field enter the «arena», and their well-known «colleagues» breathe in their backs.
The first month of summer will not be complete without an elegance contest. From 18 to 20 June, fans of vintage cars will be welcomed in Geneva for the fifth Swiss Elegance Concours. The anniversary event will be dedicated to «Elegance and Speed», which are harmoniously combined in cars produced between 1920 and 1985.
From 22 to 25 May, Rally the Globe invites you to Scotland. On the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, the organizers offer spending three days not just driving your favorite car in pursuit of victory, but enjoying the northern nature, the sounds of bagpipes, entertainment and games. In a word, it is a great combination of business and pleasure.
A day later, Hero Events will host a one-day rally in Yorkshire. Driving no more than 18 miles across several villages, plus five special tests on campus is a great opportunity to test your skills and practice before more serious events.
The last in the calendar of June will be the eighth stage of the Italian Regularity Rally Championship, which will be held on June 26 and 27. Moving through the narrow streets of Montevergine in a retro-car is not an easy task, and taking into account the distance of 200 kilometers covered in the struggle for victory, it is doubly difficult.
