Salvinelli: The second victory gave me more satisfaction

Fabio Salvinelli became the fourth co-driver in the history of the modern Mille Miglia, who managed to repeat the success. After the victory, Salvinelli shared his emotions with AutoClassicNews.

-How did race preparation differ from last year?

— The preparation was actually not very focused, the calendar allowed us to test the car only once this year

-If you compare 2021 and 2022, which race was more physically/psychologically challenging for you?

-Undoubtedly the MM 2022 was a really good test of strength physically, the very high temperatures put us to the test. Psychologically it was more difficult this year, also because we wanted to repeat the success of 2021.

-You were in the lead for four days, and not allowing your opponents to come within striking distance. At what point did you realize you had the victory in your hands?

-We realized we could win halfway through the third stage, when we arrived at the Siena -checkpoint.

-A year ago, you said that you couldn’t believe in winning the Mille Miglia for a long time. How did you feel after the second victory with an impressive lead over Belometti/Bergomi?

-Immediately after the final stages at Monza I got so excited, keeping my concentration up until the last PCs was fundamental. The second victory gave me more satisfaction.
