Ferrari 410 Sport Spider signed by Shelby topped the Sotheby’s auction in Pebble Beach

RM Sotheby’s auction, on August 18-20, held auctions as part of the Pebble Beach elegance competition. 190 lots were put up for sale, 95% of which were sold for a total of more than $ 239 million. The value of 52 lots exceeded $ 1 million at the end of the auction. The auction was attended by representatives of 38 countries, 17% of which participated in the auction for the first time.

The most expensive car was the Ferrari 410 Sport Spider from Scaglietti (1955), sold for 22,005, 000. Carroll Shelby, who drove this car for two years (1956, 1957), left a memorable inscription on the fuel tank: «Mr. Ferrari told me that this is the best Ferrari he has ever built».

On the second line according to the auction results, the Mercedes-Benz 540 K roadster from Sindelfingen (1937), which belonged to the King of Afghanistan Mohammed Zahir Shah from 1937 to 1953, was placed. The new owner paid $9,905,000 for the rare car.

For 9,245, 000, the Hispano-Suiza H6C «Tulipwood» with a torpedo body from the Nieuport-Astra (1924), created for the French racer Andre Dubone, went under the hammer.

The fourth and fifth results were shown by cars developed in Maranello — Ferrari 500 TRC Spider (1957) and Ferrari 275 GTB/C (1966).
